Coordination Control

Our Coordination Control tool allows you to verify the current coordination of your arterial. The tool consists of an input table and a resulting time-space diagram. The table should be filled with the following data:

  • Number of intersections

  • Distances between intersections

  • Green and red times

  • Cycle lengths for all intersections

  • Vehicle speed(s)

  • Coordination parameters: offsets (reference point is the start of the arterial red time) and phase sequences (Lead/Lead, Lead/Lag, Lag/Lead, or Lag/Lag).

Once the table is completed, the time-space diagram will instantly appear below it. This diagram shows green wave bandwidths (if present) and all link bandwidths. The link bandwidths are indicated by transparent green and blue bands, representing the green waves for each pair of consecutive intersections.

The Coordination Control tool is completely free. It allows you to verify that the green waves on your arterial meet the desired widths. Also, each change in the input table will cause the diagram to update accordingly. For a full set of optimal coordination solutions (those with maximal possible sum bandwidths), you will need full access to Green Traffic Software.
